International Master in Tourism & Leisure Health Scholarships

The Health Scholarships will go toward tuition fees to attend the XI edition of the International Master in Tourism & Leisure (October 2011 – October 2012).

The Scholarships will cover up to 70% of the tuition fees (equivalent to 12.600,00 EUR – twelve thousand six hundred EUR). The amount of the scholarships will be discounted from the overall tuition fees. In case of course abandonment or exclusion for any reason, no amount of the scholarship will be paid or reimbursed.

The Health Scholarships candidates need to meet the following requirements:

academic degree (or equivalent qualification) in any discipline;
fluent working knowledge of English (a TOEFL, IELTS or PTE certificate is an asset);

The Health Scholarships project aims to build novel and state-of-the-art strategies to build somatic mouse models resembling human lung cancer, via lentiviral delivery to adult lung tissue of genetically engineered mouse models of well-established NSCLC tumour suppressors. A primary usage of validated lung cancer models will be as a source for materials for ex vivo assessment of tissue slice culture conditions and manipulations, 3D cultures and spheroids. Qualifications

Call for PhD scholarships inter-school under the prestigious University of Cardiff regime of President Fellowship: Crane - Cardiff research advanced imaging techniques. This year we hope to recruit at least three students in October 2011.

Quantitative imaging is increasingly used in academic research, health and the pharmaceutical industry. We want to use the creative resources of the doctoral students to help us understand the signals of the central nervous system of mammals and develop imaging methods to be adopted by neuroscientists worldwide.

The doctoral thesis is experimentally applied with a preference for the methodology of science to biological systems will be increased in three main areas: integration of multiple modalities of neuroimaging information, experimental modeling of the structure and function of the brain, and quantifying improved image biologically meaningful measures of brain structure and identifying function.

Research students undertake their projects under joint supervision with supervisors Cubric (Cardiff University Brain Research Imaging Center, School of Psychology), School of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Mathematics and school medicine. We offer a research environment, based on multi-disciplinary expertise of the applicants to use methods of neuro-imaging to meet the most advanced clinical questions. An approach to multi-modal imaging in the proposed project will be strongly encouraged.

PhD projects will be funded for 3 years. There is flexibility in the final projects undertaken by students and this will be determined largely by matching the best students with the appropriate supervisors. In 2011 we are recruiting candidates across the following subject areas:
• Imaging white matter microstructure: development and experimental validation of compressed sensing strategies
• Genetic contributions to variation in brain structure, metabolism and cognitive function
• Multi-modal study of human brain activity during pharmacologically-induced sedation
• FMRI as a physiological tool: the brain’s control of cerebrovascular and cardiovascular function

In the field of coaching there are more and more critical voices suggesting that the professionalisation agenda for coaching has led to decisions and practices for the accreditation of coaches that are based on outdated models. Candidates for this studentship are invited to explore current practices and experiences of coaches in the light of recent thinking and to use findings from other fields in order to inform a new framework for professional development, which would have application across a range of professions. The project would involve a substantial literature review and the development of a qualitative methodology for understanding the interplay between the pragmatic need for reasonable gate-keeping for entry to the coaching field that is sensitive in terms of quality and ethics for clients on the one hand and takes into account the complexity of the coaching engagement and integrity of practitioners, on the other.

The international PhD program of the Berlin-Brandenburg School for Regenerative Therapies (BSRT) offers outstanding interdisciplinary training and research opportunities for students of nature, material and engineering sciences who want to pursue a career in the field of Regenerative Medicine and aim at translating their scientific discoveries into clinical applications.

The BSRT is a collaboration between the Charité- Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Freie Universität Berlin, the Technische Universität Berlin, the Universität Potsdam, Max Planck and Helmholtz Institutes and other high-ranking research institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg. The Department of Informatics (IFI) is one of nine departments belonging to the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Oslo. Job description

The fellowship is located to the Automated Computing group at the Center for Biomedical Computing hosted by Simula Research Laboratory (http://www.simula.no/research/acdc/).
The proposed research project is titled Computability and stability of dynamical systems.

Physical processes are often modeled by dynamical systems, either in the form of ordinary or partial differential equations. The computability of such systems, that is, the possibility of evolving the dynamical system to a time T without loss of accuracy is a profound question that remains open for many important applications, including weather forecasting, financial markets and turbulent flow. One example of such a system is the Lorenz system which is a seemingly simple system of three ordinary differential equations introduced by Edward Lorenz in 1963 as a simple model of atmospheric flow. The Lorenz system exhibits chaotic flow and is generally (but falsely) believed to not be computable, or computable only over short time intervals. The proposed research project seeks to study and quantify in detail the computability of the Lorenz system and other important dynamical systems.

Applicants may submit a project proposal for the qualifying work during the program. The project proposal should include research topic, main issues, as well as choice of theory and method.

Requirements

- Applicants must hold a Master¿s degree or equivalent in mathematics, numerical mathematics, computer science or physics.
- The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.
- The fellowship requires admission to the research training programme at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. "In the past eight years, awarded the Scholarship Program of the National Fund nearly U.S. $ 54 million for scholarships to 16,000 students at the national level."

To receive the scholarships, students must come from families with incomes of $ 35,000 or less. Full-time and half full-time students and graduates of vocational students eligible for 1500 scholarships. Although the students of all ethnic origins can get the prices, the program gives special attention to students who are members of ethnic minorities and people who are physically disabled.

Grants awarded under this program for the residents of Alaska, California, Idaho, Oregon and Washington have been made possible with support from the College Spark Washington.

Description: The Lally School of Management & Technology was founded in 1963 as an integral part of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, America’s oldest technological university. Building on Rensselaer's world-class facilities and leadership in science and engineering, Lally is dedicated to advancing business through innovation. Lally offers graduate, doctoral and undergraduate degree programs in management, and an executive MBA program.

The Lally Innovation Competition aims to encourage innovators to generate ideas and spur economic development. Lally welcomes entries from prospective MBAs who have strong imaginations and a passion for innovation, along with an interest in transforming their ideas into reality. Entrants must be applicants to the Lally MBA Program. Winners will be chosen by a panel of Lally School faculty, alumni, and regional entrepreneurs. A public online vote will also provide a component of the final award decision.

Competition entries will be accepted in four rounds. The second round which just opened up, began on December 21rst, and will remain open for idea submissions through Feb 15, 2010. All entrants must be applicants to the Lally School MBA Program. The winner will be chosen by a panel of Lally School faculty and regional entrepreneurs. Members of the general public will also have a chance to vote online for the various entries, and this vote will serve as a component of the final award decision.

Winners will receive a tuition scholarship for the Lally School’s MBA Program worth up to $60,000. The total amount of the scholarship award will depend on the strength of the candidate’s MBA application. In addition to receiving a prestigious tuition scholarship, winners will receive mentoring and support to develop their ideas at Lally.
